But I want only to comment on your 6th paragraph which begins with "Despite what my dear brother..."

I found it interesting that someone claiming to be a Catholic would deny acknowledgement of true episcopacy to another bishop based on his beliefs on this or any topic. Didn't St. Augustine of Hippo deal with this same issue?

For a "Catholic" especially, the validity of the Sacraments can never be based on the worthiness, beliefs, or lack of beliefs of the priest or bishop. [And although St. Augustine did not address it as an issue, one might also deduce that the validity of the sacrament doesn't depend on the gender or anatomy of priest or bishop.]

You are a bishop because the Holy Spirit has made you one. Your consecration was not bestowed by by men who rewarded you for right belief, but by God who chose you according to his own plan.

You are a bishop thanks to God, and I give thanks to God that you are my bishop!Ken Dimmickhttp://www.stcatherines-stuttgart.denoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-874580216515087471.post-50672095059449510092011-06-05T08:18:25.596+01:002011-06-05T08:18:25.596+01:00An answer to the question from Anonymous: one, mys...An answer to the question from Anonymous: one, myself. The other woman priest who is a voting member of synod was prevented from being there by urgent family business. Four other women clergy were present but not entitled to vote.Barbara Mosshttp://www.svenskakyrkan.se/goteborg/st.andrewsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-874580216515087471.post-83618800064053360652011-06-04T17:23:53.090+01:002011-06-04T17:23:53.090+01:00I have read with great interest the digest publish...I have read with great interest the digest published on the net of the recent Diocesan Synod in Cologne.

I have noted that the vote in favour of women bishops by the clergy present was 11 for 10 against. A very close shave. I have also heard Bishop Geoffrey's comments after the synod on this issue.

My question: How many members of the clergy present and voting were women ?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-874580216515087471.post-37089991106131661562011-06-04T00:43:37.290+01:002011-06-04T00:43:37.290+01:00Very well-articulated. We have become far too accustomed to slogans and other cheaper forms of speech. It is refreshing and helpful to our situation in the Communion when a bishop explains himself as you have.Jameshttp://videruntomnes.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-874580216515087471.post-88353736001637886842011-06-03T20:42:42.574+01:002011-06-03T20:42:42.574+01:00Thanks, David.
